Poster OIEpng

Objective

Work as a group to design an 11x17 poster to promote the Indian Cultural Festival hosted by both Heartland Community College and Illinois State University. The composition needs to promote all events happening during the event.

Collaborators:

Emma Tully

Genesis Witte

Concept

In Indian culture, symbols of identity manifest in diverse forms, including fabric, flower garlands, and motifs, each of which embodies a different aspect of hospitality and identity. Primarily the red and pink draped fabric seen on the left and in the middle of the poster symbolizes rituals, celebration, vitality and prosperity. Meanwhile, the blue textured fabric in the background embodies divine compassion, serenity, and spiritualism.

Subtly incorporating the hues of Isu and heartlands, the colors foster a sense of unity, showcasing collaboration between the two schools in commemorating the Indian Culture festival. Adorning the blue background are motifs of mango paisleys, symbolizing growth, fertility, and abundance, making it a popular choice for auspicious occasions such as festivals.

The golden-orange garlands adorning the right side are believed to bestow fortune, blessings, and a sense of welcoming.
